Charvet – Somewhere Over the Rainbow

So as promised, here are some thoughts from Paris. The first thing I knew I had to write about was Charvet – I’ve been to Paris a handful of times and each time I enter Charvet it is a revaluation. Truly a sartorial pilgrimage if there ever was one.

The first thing you notice upon walking in is the intense saturation of colors all around you. To call these colors simply blue, green, pink, etc., would be insulting and a terrible description. I only wish I had had my camera with me so I could snap some photos for the blog – I do need to get better about this. Even the silk knots came in shades so diverse that I think there were almost half a dozen options that the typical observer would refer to as “brown.”

I am lucky enough to have been given a Charvet necktie a while back as a gift, and can say with confidence and experience that you are getting what you pay and more at this Mecca of men’s style. Beautiful knots, beautiful colors, and extremely durable for something made out of so fine a silk. And as for the bespoke services, a guy can dream, right?
