A Sweaty Solution

Everyone’s feet perspire.  Some people can get away with not wearing an anti-persperant under their arms, and still finish the day fresh and dry.  But I don’t know anyone who can wear shoes all day, sans socks, and not end up with a smelly, wet mess. 

Thus, I introduce to you all one of the few things that still possesses the ability to draw me to a shopping mall – the Aldo terrycloth insoles.  I discovered these during my high school years, working in an outdoor shopping center across the walkway from the footwear vendor, and they have been an invaluable part of my summer kit ever since.  I am not one of the aforementioned deodorant-free folks to begin with, so going sockless usually meant sore feet, smelly shoes, and eventually having to trash pairs before their time due to lingering odor.

You just stick these puppies (which come in whole sizes US 7 -12) in the bottom of your loafers, mocs, or what-have-you, and they absorb and wick away moisture.  When they start to stink, just throw them in the washing machine and they come out good as new.  The cushioning is nice, but minimal, and my only words of warning are not to use them if your shoes have a shallow toe-box.  They can make the toe-box too tight and thus blister-inducing.  But, otherwise, they’re my little secret to staying cool and dry come the hot and sticky season.
