There are those glamorous items that we scrimp and save to buy and then parade around gingerly like prizes.  And then there’s the stuff we just need.  You can’t wear suede loafers and cashmere coats all the time.  It’s been a cold, wet week here in Chicago and the practical pieces in my closet have been the stars of the show.

The shawl collar cardigan is hands-down one of the greatest pieces of clothing a man can wear.  It can stand in when a sport coat would be a little too formal, it’s an easy on-and-off layer for those days when you’re moving between indoors and outdoors, and just looks downright great on almost anyone.
