The Import of Indulgence
This week has been crazy, and I’ve been running mad – you might have noticed the lack of a post on Monday, which is the first one I’ve missed in almost a year. Things show no signs of stopping until the middle of next week, so my solution is a simple one: indulge.
I’m going to kick up my feet, read a good book, and sip a glass of Armagnac. The phone is getting turned off, I’m not checking my email, and I’m going to genuinely relax. It’s important to do, and especially here in the States, we’re taught to feel bad about it. Work work work, but don’t play play play. Whether its a special glass of wine, an extravagant purchase, or whatever trips your trigger, actually enjoy when you indulge. Balance in life, as in most things, is key. So, with that, I’m off to sip, savor, and snooze.

February 27, 2011I agree with you about the culture in the US. I meet many people who live for their job but they do not have interesting hobbies or take the time to travel… In that sense, I hope you enjoyed reading your book.
