Starting School, Reading Treatises

Classes started up again this week, so I apologize for keeping this short (and hopefully sweet).

Along with the usual hefty load of coursebooks, I threw a few books for diversion into my most recent Amazon haul. Most of these could pass for something taught in one of my humanities seminars, and in addition to the various political and literary treatises on the syllabus for the term, “Treatise on Elegant Living” by Honoré de Balzac is featuring in my personal time.

I’ve just gotten into it, and I’ll keep you all updated as I chug through in my spare moments. So far my favorite line has been “the principle of elegant life is a noble thought of order and harmony, intended to give poetry to things.” Any opinions?
