Over the Coat

I’m just always warm.  I wish it weren’t so.  It makes wearing the clothes I like near-impossible most of the year.  Flannel and tweed are just not conducive to keeping one cool.  So, I wear them anyway and just deal with it.  I suffer through linen jackets in the summer because a completely uncovered waist just looks ungainly to my eye.  But the one thing I just can’t bear is an overcoat, and what a shame it is.

When getting dressed in the winter I have to choose either sportcoat or topcoat.  The very thought of donning a coat and then another coat gets my sub-brachial waterworks going.  I find a suit with an overcoat extremely dashing, but unless I had both cut in impossibly light cloth, I fear they would be more burden than blessing.  A sweater and jacket is about as much layering as I can do without getting to my destination a steamy mess.  Well, my loss I guess.  What makes up your winter layering wardrobe?
