New Shoe Day – Allen Edmonds

Posted by: on Jan 10, 2011 | 3 Comments

My favorite days might just be new shoe days.  Last week in the post-holiday sales I was able to find a brilliant pair of Allen Edmonds oxfords.  I wore them twice this week and then gave them a nice glacage finish on the toes and quarters.  So far they seem to be wearing nicely, are extremely comfortable, and with AE’s refinishing service I have years and years with them to look forward to.

I take great pleasure in polishing my shoes.  It’s a moment to pause, forget the chaos of the rest of my life and focus on something simple.  Few things in a man’s wardrobe look as refined and elegant as a pair of beautifully polished shoes.  Right now I just use basic Kiwi wax, but I think I’m going to get my hands on some Saphir from A Suitable Wardrobe’s online shop.  It’s great that someone in the States is finally stocking the stuff.  I’ll let you know what the results are in a few weeks.  Click here for a lesson in good polishing technique from my mate Christian Kimber at Style Sage.

    Vernon,

While I appreciate your sentiment about shined shoes, I would appreciate it if we could keep racial slurs out of the discussion. I'm sure no harm was meant.

    Thank you for contributing.

    Best,
    Stephen

True! And that is why it is not boring at all (contrary to brushing one's teeth). The result becomes obvious after little time.
