Game Time – The Rugby Shirt
The weather this week has been a really weird mix of hot and cold. You know, the kind where you never know when you leave the house if you need to roll up your sleeves or pull something extra on. Typically its too warm in the afternoons for my blood, but at night I’ve needed a pullover on hand as the temperature drops.
This brings us to one of my favorite pieces of fall casual clothing – the rugby shirt. Shetland sweaters, heavy knit cardigans, and all the rest are great, but if I’m kicking back and relaxing, nothing screams casual for me quite like a rugby. I also especially like the look of a button down oxford under a rugby (a la Michael Bastian), which strikes a great classy-casual balance for me. Sometimes a sweater, no matter how thick, just seems too delicate and fussy – a rugby is warm, sturdy, and gets better the more you beat the hell out of it. My American is showing, isn’t it.
Also, the MTM shirt I ordered a few weeks ago just came in. I’ll be washing it this weekend and sharing the results ASAP, so keep your eyes peeled.
