Cut it Out
Classes are over, exams are next week, and graduation a week and a half after that. I’ll be out of this apartment by the end of the month, and that means one thing – throwing things out. Moving is a glorious time for curating one’s possessions and junking all the…well, junk.
Some magazines you want to hold onto, while others are essentially disposable. I won’t be chucking out my back issues of The Rake, but keeping dozens of copies of GQ and Esquire just seems foolish. So, I got out a knife and starting doing some printed sartorial surgery.
The box you see above is just one of a few that contained the last few years of magazines that I’ve accumulated from subscriptions, boring layovers, and homework procrastination. Today they’re no longer taking up half my closet space, instead residing in the recycling dumpster out back. Cutting out any ads, editorial shoots, and great articles I wanted to save, I managed to cram years of reading into a simply accordion file. From here on out I’ll do this at the end of every month, and keep an ordered file of what I find. Method always comes after the maddness.
