Summer Sipping – Old Pulteney
Well I haven’t done a post about drinking in quite a while, so I thought I would share what I have been enjoying as of late: The Old Pulteney 12 year old.
Reductive Elegance
To risk taking things a bit too seriously for a moment, the Oxford English Dictionary defines Elegance as “Refined grace of form and movement, tastefulness of adornment, refined luxury.” And further in terms “Of spoken or written compositions, etc.: tasteful correctness, harmonious simplicity…” And lastly, “of scientific processes, demonstrations, inventions, etc.: Neatness, ingenious simplicity, convenience, and effectiveness.”
Opera Rant
So we’ve all heard me rant about decorum and dressing whilst traveling, but now it’s opera time. I went to the opera this Saturday evening, yes, Saturday evening, and must say I was appalled. Truly, truly appalled.
At Long Long Last…
Pardon the terrible pun in the title of this post, but I have finally purchased a pair of wholecuts. The quest for these shoes has been over a year long, with many close calls along the way, but Monday afternoon I finally walked away from the store victorious.
Lazy in Linen
One of the problems I face with summer dressing is finding a suitable drapey replacement for flannel and worsted trousers. I personally like my trousers with a nice drape, especially since because I have a more prominent posterior, trousers that hang rather than hug are both more flattering and more comfortable. Enter the linen trouser.
