An Unexpected Award in Elegance
Mr. Chris Cox of Easy and Elegant Life was kind enough to nominate me for his “Smart and Stylish” award earlier this week. If you don’t already read Easy and Elegant Life, fix that right away, and then finish this post. It was one of the blogs that got me started blogging, and I rarely miss a day’s musings.
So, without further adieu, here are seven stylish things you may or may not know about me:
1. Any elegance I hope to have inherited came from my mother’s father. He was always a perfect example of the adage “Elegance comes from within.”
2. Growing up, the name Ralph Lauren was synonymous in my house with the very ideas of dressing well and living with integrity. This is where my journey began.
3. I suffer from an overdeveloped sense of hyperbole, that sometimes leads me astray; deciding that I NEVER want to do X or ALWAYS must wear Y is a vice that I must often work to suppress.
4. The Portrait of Dorian Gray, while not what I would call the best novel ever written, is my desert island book and I can’t imagine reading it less than once a year.
5. The art of good conversation is dying, and without it the world will be a very boring place.
6. The two situations that define character are how we say thank you and how we apologize.
7. Much to the surprise of my friends, I often relax before bed in a t-shirt and sweatpants (non-elastic-ankled, thank goodness). I am still human.
So now it’s my turn to pass the baton, and here are my nominees:
Style Sage
A Suitable Wardrobe
The Naked Ape Gets Dressed
