Accessories Swap – Style Sage
I was chatting with my good friend Christian Kimber, of Style Sage, the other day and we thought it might be nice to swap some advice for our readers. After some deliberation, we decided to each send the other our three favorite accessories. So, below you’ll find Christian’s favorites, and you can find mine on Style Sage. Enjoy.
Collar Pin
I picked up this pin in Melbourne quite recently. I had been searching for a while to find the perfect one. Fitting perfectly under my tie knot, it’s a rather attractive detail. I’m not ashamed to say I might have been influenced by the likes of Rodger Sterling and maybe even Mr Ford. Although It’s important to find the correct collar to match. A lot of chaps take their shirts to their tailor to have holes sewn into their collars; I just force the pin through, perhaps a little careless. I find ideally worn with a small “school boy” knot, otherwise the collar looks a little too squashed. I’m not really a fan of the Winsdor. The Duke on the other hand was a marvelously dressed man.
Braces
I love braces, and whenever I buy a pair of trousers or suits I have the buttons sewn in immediately. I find I mostly wear them casually, with an oxford shirt and loafers. I found this pair from Lanvin at Liberty’s of London, (a beautiful Tudor styled department store) a while ago. Ideal with a white shirt. The eccentric coloring of the paisley silk and details make them rather special
Bow Tie
I do love a perfectly shaped bow tie, and if you’re interested in the writing of Simply Refined I’m sure you do too. This is the latest bow in my collection. I’ve wanted a Tom Ford bow tie for a long time, since visiting his store in New York a few years ago. The silk is beautifully thick and the perfect size . A very dear girl surprised me with it at Christmas – It seems a girl who surprises you with a bow tie is one to keep.
