Obsession is a strong word, but probably the only appropriate one when I’m talking about knit ties. Kent Wang, of polo shirt fame, was kind enough to send me one of his two-tone knits a few weeks ago, and sure, I’ll say it – I’m obsessed.

Good shoes are pricey, there are no two ways about it. You get what you pay for. If you’re willing to hunt a little though, you can find really great second-hand shoes for next to nothing. But, they may require some loving though to get them back in tip top shape.
Swiss Simplicity by Mondaine
There’s no shortage of great watch porn out there. But while I enjoy looking at pictures of vintage Pateks and limited edition masterpieces from Lange, it’s nice to know there are some well-designed affordable watches out there as well. Automatic, complication-ridden wonder the Mondaine is not, but it’s one hell of a pretty little workhorse.

We hear all the time about the great shops of New York, London, Paris, &c., but there are some great outposts in the “provinces” as it were. John Hyatt is one such outpost, a preppy enclave in downtown Summit, New Jersey where pastel and plaid go with everything.
Great Grandpa Jack – Old World Sprezzatura
Meet Great-Grandpa Jack. Last week I went to visit some family in New Jersey and went digging through old photos and books at my grandparents’ house. I’d somehow never seen this photo before, but I just couldn’t get over how great this guy looked. People spend their whole lives trying to look this good in their clothes, and Great-Grandpa Jack looked like he’d been born in them.
