Simply Slippers

All the young ladies I know have spent the last few weeks fretting about graduation frocks, and I must admit the commotion got the better of me.  I got the itch for some new “graduation shoes.”

These R. Martegani slippers are on deep, deep discount at Franco’s and if you want a pair I recommend snatching them up pretty quickly.  The suede is buttery soft and the lining light-weight.  Martegani styled these with the perfect mix of details to give this slipper the perfect touch of insouciance that I just love this time of year.  The slant heel and Blake sole keep the profile low and lean and the short vamp gives them the appearance of being more bedroom slipper than street shoe.  You can see I’ve worn them a couple of times, both with and without socks, and they’ve taken these first beatings pretty well.

Now I wouldn’t recommend trekking anywhere serious in these, or even spending a whole day walking city streets.  The soles are sturdy, but still fairly thin, and best for lounging.  This may sound useless – a pair of shoes not really meant for walking in – but as summer settles in, so do I.  Kicking my feet up in a pair of louche loafers is exactly what I want this time of year.  Honestly, when it’s ninety degrees plus out, how much walking do you really want to do?

Did you order your regular size or did you go up half a size as recommended?

I did order up a half size and am very glad I did. I'm often cautious when shops recommend this, but in this case it is definitely the right move.

Thanks for the help. Ordered the cognac up a half size, finger crossed.
