
Knowing Clothes and Clothiers
As usual, the guys at The Armoury get it right. Mark’s recent post about Koji Suzuki of Spigola really got me thinking about the process of having clothes made, what that process means for the final products, and what it is to know the people making them. Here is what I came up with.

“Give Three Piece a Chance” was the slogan seen on protest banners on Savile Row just the other day. After the announcement that Abercrombie Kids would be occupying the historic Number 3 Savile Row, traditionalists literally took to the street. I have mixed feelings, and here they are.

Brown suede shoes are not, as they say, brown suede. They are usually chocolate, or snuff, or polo in color, not a simple, one name fits all brown. And this is an area where very subtle variations make all the difference. There are warm and cool, formal and casual brown suedes, and knowing which is which is a helpful tool for the stylish man.

Interesting Spring Shades – Reds and Greens
Often we think of color monolithically – there is “red” and there is “green.” But at the risk of sounding pretentious, these colors are much more complicated. There is blush and then there is rose. There is evergreen and hunter green. Let’s look at these two color families a little closer.

Enjoying the Simplest Things
Maybe it’s both too earnest and too obvious, but enjoy the simplest things. They are truly where the most pleasure comes from. Whether it’s a quiet moment, a comforting meal, or a familiar feature, don’t assume that something has to be grand to offer magnitudes of pleasure beyond what you expect.
