A Different Gin

This time of year usually finds me putting down the whisky and brandy in favor of lighter spirits and cocktails.  But, with our unseasonably cool temperatures I’ve been forced to find something new.

Enter Ransom Gin.  The good folks at Ransom Spirits in Sheridan, Oregon took their Old Tom Gin, a sweeter style gin popular in the nineteenth and early twentieth century and put some age on it.  The result is a slightly sweet, slightly creamy concoction unlike any gin you’ve ever tasted.  It makes quite an appealing but unusual gin and tonic, but I prefer to take mine over a single cube of ice.  It’s the perfect spring aperitif.
